History Established in 1972. In 1972, Hudson Appliance was founded by a Hudson Resident, Arthur Redding. The 900 sq. ft. downtown store frontage was originally named "Hudson Tape Center" where eight track tapes, forty fives and stereo equipment were sold. As the seventies evolved, albums, cassette tapes, and televisions were added to the stores product offerings. Mr. Redding began expanding the store to offer appliances. By the eighties, he eventually took over the entire building, expanded upon the appliance selections and changed the business name to "Hudson Tape & Appliance". He found great success joining an appliance buying group so he could provide his customer with the same savings the big box stores offered but with the personalized service of a small local business. The business continued to evolve with the addition of a Service Center and finally change of the name to strictly "Hudson Appliance Center". Hudson Appliance is now the largest independent appliance showroom in New England. Meet the Business Owner DJ R. Business Owner DJ Redding-Collins, daughter of founder Arthur P. Redding, who oversees and manages all aspects of the business. She continues with her father's founding goals of providing outstanding customer service along warehouse pricing but in technology driven times.
